Honing & Grinding Natural Stone Floors
Honing and grinding stone floors is an exceptional way of eliminating dirty grout and the difficulty of cleaning and mopping. Your beautiful stone floor will become all one level and monolithic after we grind out any slippage in the joints. This process also leaves no place in the grout for the dirt to accumulate over time and turn black. Imagine grout that will never go black.
Resurfacing Natural Stone Floors
Resurfacing involves honing or diamond grinding the stone to remove the top layer – usually just a few microns, much less than a millimetre – and any contamination the layer contains. To resurface the natural stone floor we use diamond-impregnated pads with special wet polishing machines. The procedure involves the grinding of the marble to remove all lippage, working up through a number of grits to a final polishing. The whole floor is then polished using our wet diamond-polishing compound, which will result in a natural glossy and shiny stone floor (without the use of waxes). Adjacent carpets, walls and cupboards are masked off so that water-based slurry produced by the stone floor polishing machines does not damage those areas. Before the tone polishing process commences the grout is removed and replaced. This allows the floor to be completed with the grout being flush with the top of the tiles. The result of this process brings your natural stone floor to better than original without lippage and prominent grout lines.
The sealer will ensure little or no dirt accumulation and make mopping a breeze. In turn, it dramatically decreases mopping and cleaning times (click here to see more information about our stone floor sealing service). Our processes will restore your stone floor to a new, clean surface using specially formulated stages and products that are using 75% cheaper than the replacement of your stone.
